His Story:

  • I went out for cross-country my Freshman year of high school in order to stay in shape for soccer. By my Junior year, I realized that running was what I was best at and decided to run track. This year round commitment resulted in me winning two individual Wyoming state championships in cross country (Junior and Senior year), and the 800 and 1600 meter state track titles my Senior year. Despite this success, I had very modest PRs so I did not get any attention from D1 college programs besides Gonzaga. They had very little funding but I jumped at the chance to run for newly hired head coach Pat Tyson, and to help the team grow into a regionally and nationally respected program. At Gonzaga I saw a steady progression over 5 years. Going from a 4:01 1500 meter runner my Freshman year to a 3:43 PR and NCAA regional berth by the time I graduated. After a year away from competing, I decided to make the move to Boulder to see how far I can go in this sport.
